Frequently asked questions
What is a perpetual future?
A perpetual future (or “perp”) is a derivative contract that tracks an asset's price with no expiry date. Traders hold long or short leveraged positions indefinitely, and a periodic funding payment between longs and shorts keeps the contract price tethered to the underlying spot price.
How does funding work?
Funding is a small payment exchanged between long and short position holders, typically every 1-8 hours depending on the venue. When the perpetual trades above spot, longs pay shorts (positive funding); when it trades below spot, shorts pay longs (negative funding). Sustained extremes often signal crowded positioning.
What is open interest and why does it matter?
Open interest (OI) is the total number of outstanding perpetual contracts that haven't been closed. Rising OI while price is flat can indicate a build-up of leveraged positions that may unwind sharply (a liquidation cascade) if price moves against the crowd.
Is this page a trading platform?
No. This is a reference and data page — it explains each perpetual futures market and links out to the Bulk.Trade trading interface, which is the live order-flow source and where trades are actually placed.
Do I get a boost for using the YETI code on Bulk.Trade?
Yes. When you open your Bulk.Trade account through a link carrying the YETI referral code, you earn a boost via Bulk.Trade's referral program. Every outbound trading link on this site already has code YETI inside — there is nothing to copy or type. Current terms are set by Bulk.Trade; check its referral page for details.
